Scrivenn (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates a global digital literary platform for writers and readers aged 13+. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use our website, mobile app, and related services. It is intended to support compliance with applicable data protection laws, including the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, GDPR, CCPA, and app store requirements.

This policy applies to the Scrivenn website and mobile application. By using our services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information from users aged 13 and above:

• Profile Data: Name, email address, date of birth, age, gender, and profile photo.
• Content: Literary works and other content you upload, submit, or publish on Scrivenn.
• Preferences: Genres and content interests you indicate or interact with.
• Location Data: GPS-based location data, when you choose to share it.
• Device and Usage Data: Device identifiers, app interactions, and analytics data collected through Firebase.
• Advertising Identifiers: Your device's advertising ID (the Android Advertising ID or Apple's Identifier for Advertisers), together with coarse location inferred from your IP address and basic device information, used to serve and measure advertising in the mobile app.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate, improve, and personalize Scrivenn. This includes the following purposes:

• Creating and managing user accounts.
• Providing access to content uploading, reading, and discovery features.
• Personalizing recommendations using our machine learning models.
• Analyzing genre preferences and reading behavior.
• Storing and displaying profile images and uploaded content.
• Improving the performance, security, and reliability of our services.
• Sending service-related communications and updates.
• Serving advertising in the mobile app, and measuring whether those ads were shown and interacted with.

Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to support Scrivenn's operation:

• Firebase: Authentication, analytics, and device usage data.
• Cloudinary: Storage and delivery of profile photos and image content.
• Hostinger: Website and application hosting.
• Branch.io: Dynamic links and deep linking.
• Google AdMob: Advertising in the mobile app. See the Advertising section below.

These third parties may process limited data on our behalf in order to provide their services. We do not sell your personal information.

Advertising

The Scrivenn mobile app displays advertising supplied by Google AdMob. The Scrivenn website does not display advertising.

To provide these ads, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, your device's advertising identifier, and similar technologies to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure whether an ad was shown or interacted with, and detect invalid activity. Ads may be personalised or non-personalised. Non-personalised ads are not based on your past behaviour, but still use coarse location and basic device information to serve the ad and to control frequency and measurement.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before serving personalised ads, using Google's certified consent management platform. You can change that choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options in the mobile app. Wherever you are, you can limit ad personalisation on your device through your Android or iOS advertising settings, or through Google Ad Settings.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share the content you write with advertisers.

Children's Privacy

Scrivenn currently only allows users who are 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to create accounts or use the platform at this stage of the product.

If we learn that a user under 13 has provided personal information without the required protections, we may take steps to remove that information and disable the account in accordance with applicable law.

Scrivenn is not directed to children, and we do not treat our ad requests as child-directed.

Data Storage and Retention

We retain your account information and uploaded content for as long as your account remains active or as long as you choose to keep your content on Scrivenn. You may request deletion of your content or account at any time, subject to any legal or operational obligations that may apply.

Because Scrivenn is still in its MVP stage, our retention practices may evolve as the platform grows and new operational needs arise.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information and content. However, no system of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We will continue improving our security measures as the platform grows and additional protections are implemented.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction or updates to your information.
• Request deletion of your account or content.
• Withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.
• Opt out of certain analytics or location-based features.
• Change or withdraw your advertising consent, and limit ad personalisation, as described in the Advertising section.
